NOKL Server for NASes

NOKL Server for Linux NAS is installed directly on the NAS.

It serves files to NOKL clients in a fast and efficient manner.

NASes come from different manufactures, with difference processors.

WD (Western Digital) NAS

Only WD NAS OS-5 is supported, not OS-3.

Lookup model of your NAS:
* Open Windows File Explorer.
* Select [Network] from the list on the left.
* Right-click your NAS and select [Properties].
* Your model name is on the 2nd line of [Device Details] section.
* Model number is on the next line in the same section.

OS 5: Download one of the packages below (based on your Device Model Name) to your Downloads folder:
The distribution file that you download must match the NAS Model Name exactly.

Synology NAS

Download installer file *.spk distribution file to your Download folder:

Login to Synology web user inteface by typing into your browser:
http://192.168.1.NN:5000
where 192.168.1.NN is local IP address of your Synology NAS, you should know it already.
You also have to know UserId and Password of Synology device.

Enter Package Center.
Click Settings.
In 'Allow installation of packages by' select 'Any publisher'.

Enter Package Center.
Click Manual Install.
Select file nokl-release.spk from your Downloads folder.
Approve install, NOKL server will be installed and started.

Connect to NOKL Server by typing into your browser:
http://192.168.1.NN:11000
where 192.168.1.NN is local net IP address of your Synology NAS.

You will see Initial Setup dialog of NOKL Server.
Enter your NOKL Connect UserID and Password.

Now your NOKL Server on NAS will become visible on the Internet and Local Net.
You can see it in NOKL Explorer, or mount it via NOKL mounter.
The entire file system of Linux-based NAS is visible to you, so may see some unfamiliar files.

QNAP NAS

Download installer file to your Downloads folder:
nokl-server-qnap.qpkg

Login in Browser into QNAP Web GUI:
http://192.168.1.NNN:8080
where 192.168.1.NNN is local IP address of your NAS, you should know it already.
You also have to enter UserId and Password of the NAS.

Start AppCenter.

In Three Dots(...) -> Settings -> General click 'Allow installation of applications without digital signature'.

Click Install Manually icon, which is '4 squares with a Plus sign'.

Click Browse... and Select *.qpkg file from your Downloads folder.

Click Install and NOKL server will be installed and started.

After Install, Connect to NOKL Server by typing into your browser:
http://192.168.1.NNN:11000
where 192.168.1.NNN is local net IP address of your QNAP NAS.

You will see Initial Setup dialog of NOKL Server.
Enter your NOKL Connect UserID and Password.

Now your NOKL Server on NAS will become visible on the Internet and Local Net.
You can see it in NOKL Explorer, and upload/download/sync files with it.
The entire file system of Linux-based NAS is visible to you, so may see some unfamiliar files.

To change configuration of NOKL Server on the NAS, go to to:
http://192.168.1.NN:11000
and login using your NOKL Connect credentials.
